Relax with Lavender

Are you stressed?  Depressed?  Experiencing headaches?  Relax with lavender!

Lavender is an herb that is also known as lavandula angustifolia,  which relieves stress and depression.  It even relieves headaches!  WOW!  What a stress reliever!  The main component in lavender is alpha-pinene, which has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.

Uses of lavender

Cooking

Many people use fresh lavender in meals to give it that aromatic sweet fragrance, with a citrus flavor.  It is used in desserts, pastas and salads.  When cooking with it, you still gain the healthy benefits of its components.  The best thing I have had using lavender, is lavender cup cakes…OH MY!!!!  DELICIOUS!!!!

Tea

I love tea!  Lavender tea gives you that wonderful taste of a citrus tea, with the relaxing benefits to relieve my stress from the busy day.  So sit back and sip lavender tea after a long stressful day.

Bathing

OMG!  When lavender is used in a nice hot bubble bath, it relaxes your whole body!  The stress melts away and any depression is gone.  Not only does it calm you, it is very good for your skin, attacking any inflammation and killing any bad bacteria on your skin.  You can even buy a soap with lavender in it, and it will change your life!  (Most use lavender oil in the baths)

Aromatherapy

When using lavender therapeutic grade essential oil in a diffuser, it has amazing benefits!  It opens up your airways, relieves headaches, stress and depression.  So get a diffuser and put that lavender oil in there and just watch and see how the stress just falls off of your shoulders.

Topically

Lavender can be used for:

  • Calming effects:  Apply 2-3 drops of essential oil on your wrists, feet, and temples for immediate effect.
  • Insect bite:  Apply 1 drop of essential oil on the bite, that will reduce the itchiness and kill any bacteria from it.
  • Minor wound:  Apply 2-3 drops of essential oil on the burn to kill bacteria and clean the wound.
  • Skin conditions:  Apply 4-5 drops of essential oil with a carrier oil, like jojoba oil or coconut oil and rub it on affected area.

Let’s face it when you have skin conditions, insect bites and wounds, this raises our stress levels, which lavender is here to help alleviate all that mess.

Try it and see how much it will change your life, health and wellness.  Leave a comment below and let me know what you think if you have tried it.  That’s all for now.

Get healthy today and stay healthy tomorrow!
